Summary

The rollout of the line key configuration in Teams Admin Center for Teams phones is paused until January 2026 to address feedback, especially for shared device licenses. Admins should configure line keys directly on devices meanwhile. This pause may affect audit logging and reporting temporarily.

Details

Updated December 16, 2025: We have updated the content and timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

Introduction

We temporarily paused the rollout of the line key configuration experience in Teams Admin Center (TAC) for Teams phone devices. This pause applied to tenants in Worldwide, GCC, GCCH, and DoD environments. The pause allowed us to address feedback and improve the experience, particularly for shared device license scenarios. As of December 16, 2025, rollout is now expected in January 2026.

When this will happen

We expect to begin rolling out in January 2026. Please see MC1103603 for details.

How this affects your organization

If your organization uses Teams phone devices, you may notice that the line key configuration experience in TAC is currently unavailable. This affects all supported environments. Admins can continue to configure line keys directly on the device as a temporary workaround.

What you can do to prepare

No action is required at this time. We recommend continuing to use on-device configuration until the TAC experience resumes. We’ll provide updated guidance and documentation once the rollout restarts.

Compliance considerations
