Updated May 12, 2025: We have updated the timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

Coming soon: Meeting organizers with eligible licenses will have a Meeting option control called Turn off copying and forwarding of meeting chat, live captions, and transcript. When this control is enabled, meeting participants won’t be able to copy the meeting chat, live captions, live transcript, or any insights generated from intelligent meeting recap. This message applies to tenants with Teams Premium licenses on Teams for Windows desktop, Mac desktop, Teams on the web, and Teams for Android/iOS.

Please note that the updated meeting option doesn’t apply to sales insights in Recap and the scenarios outside Teams (e.g., transcript on Stream) with this release.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 416072.

[When this will happen:]

Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out early January 2025 (previously early December) and expect to complete by mid-January 2025 (previously mid-December).

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): We will begin rolling out mid-January 2025 (previously mid-December) and expect to complete by early mid-February 2025 (previously early January).

General Availability (GCC High, DOD): We will begin rolling out mid-March 2025 (previously early February) and expect to complete by late May 2025 (previously late April). Note: Only applicable for live captions and transcript.

[How this will affect your organization:]

Before this rollout: Meeting organizers have a control in Meeting options for Turn off copying or forwarding of meeting chat.

After this rollout: The Turn off copying or forwarding of meeting chat control in Meeting options will become the Turn off copying and forwarding of meeting chat, live captions, and transcripts control, which allows meeting organizers to prevent meeting participants from copying meeting chat, live captions, transcripts, and AI-generated insights in the meeting recap. Forwarding and sharing messages to Outlook will also be disabled.

This updated control is available by default for meeting organizers to enable.

[What you need to do to prepare:]

No admin action is needed to prepare for this change. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation.

Before rollout, we will update this post with revised documentation.
