Business Skills in Work IQ - Default On

We are announcing the ability to use Business Applications in Work IQ to search and query Dataverse business data, Semantic Modeling, Business Skills, and access to Declarative Agents in Dataverse for all new environments. This feature will be enabled by default on September 30, 2026, for environments where Microsoft Copilot Premium and either Power Apps Premium or Dynamics 365 products are active.

How does this affect me?
This feature provides the ability to use Dataverse data and Productivity data in Dataverse, as well as the ability for Environment Administrators to manage Semantic Modeling, Business Skills, and Work IQ MCP servers.

When enabled, the Business Applications in Work IQ capabilities allow agents and Copilot Chat to access Dataverse data for enabled Model Driven Applications and allows searches within Dynamics applications or Model Driven Power Apps to provide responses using Microsoft 365’s productivity data. Additionally, it allows for the use of semantic models to provide accurate detailed responses on business data. Users will also have access to Business Skills that will make use of the Dataverse data to automate and simplify complex business scenarios. Additionally, Dataverse data is now available in Agent Builder Declarative Agents, providing access to critical data to meet your needs.

Enabling this feature will result in the creation of additional supporting indexes as well as token consumption while using the features. Certain exceptions apply for tenants located in the EEA, or those relying on FedRAMP accreditation, which will be offered the ability to opt into these new features.

The following environments are not currently enabled:

• Environments created before September 30, 2026
• Environments in the EU or EEA regions
• Environments for types other than Production (Trial, Developer, Sandbox)
• Government Clouds
• FedRAMP environments

Administrators can use the links in this message to learn how to disable this feature if they choose not to use it, or to enable the feature on environments that are not on by default.

What action do I need to take?
This message is for awareness, and no action is required. Users can opt out by disabling the feature. Additionally, tenants will be able to control this setting and opt-out.
