Customized PowerBI reports behavior after major report updates

Microsoft Viva Insights customized Power BI reports will remain tied to their original report versions and won’t auto-update with major report changes. Users must create new customized reports from the latest versions to access updated data and features. No admin action or policy changes are needed.

Microsoft is updating how Viva Insights customized Power BI reports are managed when major out-of-the-box report updates are released. Customized reports will remain associated with the report version from which they were originally created and will not be automatically migrated to newer report versions.

This approach preserves report integrity and prevents customizations from breaking or behaving unexpectedly when significant report updates are introduced. Users retain access to their existing customized reports while maintaining control over when to adopt newer report versions and capabilities.
