Details

Microsoft has released an out-of-band (OOB) update today to address an issue affecting a limited number of Dell devices with an Intel Innovation Platform Framework (Intel IPF) driver that could cause changes in performance, power consumption, or system behavior after installing recent Windows updates.

This OOB update is a cumulative update, so you do not need to apply any previous updates before installing it. Devices affected by this issue and that were temporarily prevented from receiving the July 2026 security update (KB5101650) can now install this OOB update, which includes all improvements from previous security and non-security updates, along with this additional fix. This OOB update is only recommended for devices affected by this issue. If your device is not affected, no action is required.

For complete guidance and installation instructions, see the relevant KB articles:
  • Windows 11, versions 25H2 and 24H2: KB5121767
  • Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024: Hotpatch KB5121768

IT administrators using Microsoft Intune can expedite deployment of this update. For guidance, see Expedite Windows quality updates in Microsoft Intune. Devices managed by Windows Autopatch with hotpatch updates enabled (default) will receive this update automatically.
