Dynamics 365 Finance – Delay settlement from journal posting

We are announcing the ability to delay settlements from journal posting for Dynamics 365 Finance. This feature will reach general availability on August 17, 2026.

How does this affect me?
This feature includes the following capabilities:

• Payments are no longer blocked by settlement errors: Valid payments post successfully, even if settlement fails.
• Enhanced cash flow visibility and reporting: Payments are reflected immediately, while settlements can be managed separately.
• Streamlined exception handling: Failed settlements are isolated and can be retried or managed independently.

What do I need to do to prepare?
