Organizations can now upload Viva Glint organizational data through Organizational Data in Microsoft 365. This provides a centralized experience for ingesting, managing, and governing organizational data across Microsoft 365 and Viva applications.
This change helps improve data consistency, governance, and scalability by supporting automated data ingestion through supported HRIS connectors and reducing reliance on SFTP-based uploads. Organizational data can be reused across Microsoft 365 experiences, helping organizations maintain a single source of truth for workforce data.

- Availability: July 15, 2026
- Beginning September 30, 2026: Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 will be the preferred method for Viva Glint organizational data ingestion. SFTP-based data ingestion will no longer be available for new Viva Glint customers.
- General Availability (Worldwide): Beginning in mid-July 2026 and expected to complete by late September 2026

What will happen
- Organizations can upload Viva Glint organizational data through Organizational Data in Microsoft 365.
- Organizational data can be managed through a centralized Microsoft 365 experience.
- Automated ingestion options are available through supported HRIS and data connectors.
- Organizations can manage access to organizational attributes and control which applications can access certain data.
- Organizational Data Source Administrators can manage uploads and organizational data ingestion without requiring Microsoft 365 Global Administrator permissions.
- Beginning September 30, 2026, Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 will be the preferred method for Viva Glint organizational data ingestion. SFTP-based data ingestion will no longer be available for new Viva Glint customers.
- Organizations that are not currently using SFTP-based uploads will experience no disruption to their existing upload process. They may choose to adopt Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 to take advantage of centralized data management and automated ingestion capabilities.

If your organization currently uses SFTP for Viva Glint uploads, complete the following steps before September 30, 2026:
- Identify who should administer organizational data uploads. This is typically a Viva Glint Service Administrator, HRIS/HCM administrator, or Organizational Data Source Administrator.
- Review Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 documentation and determine the most appropriate ingestion method for your organization.
- Enable Viva Glint readiness through the onboarding experience within Viva Glint.
- Evaluate future migration plans for organizational data ingestion.
If your organization is not currently using SFTP for Viva Glint uploads, no action is required.
Organizations may choose to adopt Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 to take advantage of centralized data management and automated ingestion capabilities.
