Microsoft Viva Insights: Organizational data upload transition to Organizational Data in Microsoft 365

Organizational data uploads for Microsoft Viva Insights will transition from the Viva Insights web app to Organizational Data in the Microsoft 365 admin center by July 2026. This centralizes data management, improves consistency, and supports multiple ingestion methods. Administrators should update processes and roles accordingly.

Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 provides a centralized experience for uploading and managing organizational data across Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Viva. This experience improves data consistency, simplifies administration, and enables organizations to manage and reuse organizational data across supported Microsoft Viva and Microsoft 365 experiences.

Organizational data uploads previously performed through the Viva Insights web app are now managed through Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

To prepare:

• Review your current organizational data upload process.
• Ensure appropriate administrative roles are assigned, including Organizational Data Source Administrator or Microsoft 365 Global Administrator roles.
• Update internal documentation and operational procedures to reference Organizational Data in Microsoft 365.
• Identify administrators responsible for ongoing organizational data management activities.

Organizations should use Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 in the Microsoft 365 admin center for organizational data uploads and management.

For future uploads:

• In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Setup > Migration and imports > Organizational Data > Data connections > New import.
• Select the ingestion method that best meets your organization's requirements.
• Complete and validate your organizational data upload.
