[Introduction]

We’re updating geography naming in Windows 365 Microsoft Hosted Network (MHN) Multi-Region Selection to better align with Microsoft and Azure naming conventions. Geographies represent location groupings used in multi-region provisioning to help admins select where Cloud PCs are deployed. As part of this update, Australasia is being renamed to Australia & New Zealand (ANZ), and Central America is being renamed to Mexico, making the naming more precise and consistent with how regions are represented across Microsoft services.

[How this will affect your organization:]

The maintenance will occur in two phases:

  • May 31, 2026, 2:00–4:00 PM UTC 
  • June 7, 2026, 6:00–8:00 AM UTC 

During each maintenance window:

  • Maintenance windows are up to 2 hours, with impact limited to approximately 1 hour per region.
  • During this time, admins may be unable to create new provisioning policies using the current Australasia and Central America geographies and their associated regions.
  • Provisioning new Cloud PCs with existing provisioning policies using these geographies and their associated regions will not be affected.
  • Existing Cloud PCs and end-user access will not be affected.

Full functionality will automatically resume after the maintenance window completes.

The following geography names will be updated:

  • Australasia → Australia & New Zealand (ANZ)
  • Central America → Mexico

Geography names represent location groupings used for placement and resiliency. These are naming-only changes and do not affect Azure regions, capacity, or existing Cloud PCs.

You may optionally review and update any internal documentation that references previous geography names.

Scope:

This communication applies to customers using Microsoft Hosted Network (MHN) Multi-Region Selection in the affected geographies.

Customers using Azure Network Connection (ANC) are not impacted.
