We’re introducing a new file download manager experience in Microsoft Teams to streamline file downloads and reduce on-screen interruptions. This update simplifies download notifications while still making it easy for users to find downloaded files after the download completes.

This message is associated with Roadmap ID 560815.

[When this will happen:]

  • Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out in early June 2026 and expect to complete by mid-June 2026.
  • General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in mid-June 2026 and expect to complete by late July 2026 (previously late June).

Who is affected:

  • All users downloading files in Microsoft Teams (desktop and web)
  • All tenants worldwide

What will happen:

  • File download notifications in Teams will automatically dismiss after approximately 4 seconds.
  • Users will have an option to open or locate downloaded files after the download completes.
  • The experience is enabled by default.
  • Existing file permissions, storage locations, and security controls remain unchanged.
