We’re introducing multimodal capture in Copilot Notebooks in the Microsoft OneNote mobile app (iOS). It helps users capture in‑person and on‑the‑go work by combining audio transcription, image capture, and typed notes in a single session. After the session, Microsoft 365 Copilot creates a structured Copilot Page with insights and user‑captured content, which is saved to the user’s selected Copilot Notebook.

This experience is designed for scenarios such as in‑person conversations, brainstorming sessions, whiteboard discussions, and personal note taking.

  • Available now: Frontier and Microsoft 365 Insiders (Public Preview)
  • General Availability (Worldwide):
    • Rollout starts in late May 2026 (previously late April).

  • Eligible users can start a multimodal capture session in Copilot Notebooks from within the OneNote mobile app (iOS).
  • Users can transcribe audio, capture images, and type notes in a single session.
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot creates a structured Copilot Page with insights and user‑captured content.
  • The Copilot Page is added to a user‑selected Copilot Notebook.

  • By default, this feature will be automatically enabled for all eligible users. You can use Capture in Copilot Notebooks for mobile devices cloud policy to manage this feature.
  • No admin action is required to prepare for this feature.
  • Inform eligible users about this new capability and applicable organizational policies related to transcription, obtaining consent, and note capture.

Your organization is responsible for ensuring that users obtain adequate consent under applicable law from participants in each conversation before transcribing. As part of Microsoft 365 Copilot, this experience inherits Microsoft 365 enterprise data, privacy, security, compliance, and permission controls.
