[Introduction]
To ensure parity across all Copilot reporting surfaces in Viva Insights, we’re updating several metrics in Viva Insights Advanced Analysis. These updates provide a more complete view of licensed Copilot usage by incorporating Copilot Chat (Work) and (Web) actions across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams, as well as including Intelligent Recap usage in Copilot Assisted Hours. These updates replace prior calculations and help leaders to better capture a full view of usage across their organization, while ensuring parity across all Copilot Analytics reporting surfaces in Viva Insights.

General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout begins late February 2026 and completes late February 2026.

Who is affected:
Organizations with users who have access to Viva Insights Advanced Analysis and who include Copilot usage metrics in their queries.
What will happen:
Users enabled to access Advanced Analysis will be able to leverage updated metric values. Note that the amount of the metric changes for Copilot actions taken in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will vary depending on your organization’s enablement of Copilot Chat capabilities in each of these apps.
The following metric changes will appear when included in Advanced Analysis queries:
- Copilot actions taken in Word: Values may increase for months dating back to July 1, 2025, with the inclusion of Copilot Chat (Work) and (Web) usage.
- Copilot actions taken in Excel: Values may increase for months dating back to July 1, 2025, with the inclusion of Copilot Chat (Work) and (Web) usage.
- Copilot actions taken in PowerPoint: Values may increase for months dating back to July 1, 2025, with the inclusion of Copilot Chat (Work) and (Web) usage.
- Copilot actions taken in Outlook: Values will increase for months dating back to January 1, 2025, with the inclusion of Copilot Chat (Web) usage (Work usage was already included).
- Copilot actions taken in Teams: Values will increase for months dating back to January 1, 2025, with the inclusion of Copilot Chat (Web) usage (Work usage was already included).
- Copilot Assisted Hours: Values will increase for months dating back to April 1, 2024, with the inclusion of meetings where users accessed Intelligent Recap.
The metric updates will not impact the Copilot Adoption and Impact Power BI reports, nor will they impact any Copilot Dashboard metrics.
This update affects Advanced Analysis only and does not change metrics in the Copilot Dashboard or Copilot Power BI reports.
No settings, eligibility criteria, or admin controls are changing as part of this rollout.

- Run or refresh Advanced Analysis queries that use these metrics.
- Review internal dashboards or documentation if changes in historical values impact your reporting.
