Microsoft Viva Insights: Organizational data upload transition to Microsoft 365 admin center

Starting October 30, 2025, organizational data uploads for Viva Insights must be done via the Microsoft 365 admin center, not the Viva Insights web app. Upload permissions require Organizational data source administrator or Global admin roles. Data deletion and replacement remain available in Advanced analysis. Assign roles by November 6, 2025.

Reminder: Organizational data upload transition to Microsoft 365 admin center

On October 1, 2025, Viva Insights began retiring its organizational data upload feature in the Viva Insights web app.

• Admins responsible for uploading organizational data to Viva Insights.
• Tenants using Advanced analysis in the Viva Insights web app.

Key changes:

• Organizational data uploads will only be supported in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
• Upload permissions will require either Organizational data source administrator or Global admin roles.
• The Viva Insights web app will no longer support adding or editing organizational data.
• App-specific actions such as data deletion, replacing all data, and other Viva Insights-specific tasks will remain available in Advanced analysis.
• Uploaded data may be used by Viva, Microsoft 365 services, and approved non-Microsoft services via Microsoft Graph API.
