Updated July 21, 2026: After evaluating customer feedback and our product direction, we have decided not to proceed with a general availability or worldwide release of Smart Calendar. The Smart Calendar Private Preview will therefore be retired. Copilot capabilities in calendar will be delivered natively in the Classic Outlook (Win32) calendar for Microsoft 365 Copilot-licensed users, so a separate Smart Calendar experience is no longer needed. This update introduces several key benefits:

Smart Calendar was offered in Private Preview as a Copilot-powered calendar experience inside Classic Outlook. After hearing from our customers we have decided to bring Copilot calendar capabilities directly into the native Classic Outlook calendar for Microsoft 365 Copilot-licensed users rather than delivering them through a separate Smart Calendar experience. As a result, the Smart Calendar Private Preview will be retired and will not expand to general availability.

Why we are making this change:

Our direction is to invest in Classic Outlook (Win32) as a first-class platform and deliver Copilot value natively to all Copilot-licensed users.
Delivering these capabilities in the native calendar reaches the same users without a separate experience, and keeps management simpler for IT.

The key Copilot capabilities will be delivered natively in the Classic Outlook calendar in the coming months making it easy for Classic Outlook users to get value from Copilot seamlessly.

Your classic calendar is unaffected. Because Smart Calendar coexisted alongside it, there is nothing to migrate and no data is removed.
