Microsoft Teams: Admin settings for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) camera controls for Teams Rooms on Windows

Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows will introduce an admin setting to disable OEM camera controls, rolling out worldwide and in GCC in late September 2025. By default, OEM controls are enabled; admins can disable them via a new XML setting, removing OEM controls from the Teams UI.

We’re introducing a new admin setting in Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows that allows organizations to disable camera controls provided by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). This update supports organizations that prefer a simplified or standardized camera experience across devices.

[When this will happen:]

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out late September 2025 and expect to complete by late September 2025.

Who is affected: Admins managing Microsoft Teams devices with OEM camera integrations.

What will happen:

• A new XML-based admin setting will be available: <OemCameraControlsEnabled>true</OemCameraControlsEnabled>.
• By default, OEM camera controls are enabled (true).
• Admins can disable OEM camera controls by setting the value to false.
• When disabled, OEM-specific camera controls will no longer appear in the Teams console UI.
