[Introduction]

We’re introducing a new admin setting in Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows that allows organizations to disable camera controls provided by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). This update supports organizations that prefer a simplified or standardized camera experience across devices.

[When this will happen:]

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out late September 2025 and expect to complete by late September 2025.

Who is affected: Admins managing Microsoft Teams devices with OEM camera integrations.

What will happen:

  • A new XML-based admin setting will be available: <OemCameraControlsEnabled>true</OemCameraControlsEnabled>.
  • By default, OEM camera controls are enabled (true).
  • Admins can disable OEM camera controls by setting the value to false.
  • When disabled, OEM-specific camera controls will no longer appear in the Teams console UI.
