Details

As Windows 10 reaches end of support on October 14, 2025, changes are coming to Windows 365 gallery images. These changes affect how you provision and maintain Windows 10 Cloud PCs.

[How This Will Affect Your Organization:]

  • Provisioning policies that use Windows 365 versions of Windows 10 22H2 gallery images (with or without Microsoft 365 Apps) will continue to work until April 14, 2026. After that date, these images will be retired and no longer be available.
  • The final monthly update to the Windows 365 Windows 10 gallery images will be the Windows 10 October 2025 Update.
  • After October 2025, Windows 365 Cloud PCs on Windows 10 will continue receiving Extended Security Updates (ESU) at no additional cost. No administrative action is needed for existing Cloud PCs to start receiving these updates and are applied automatically after a Cloud PC is deployed. Learn more about ESU for Windows 10.

[What You Need to Do to Prepare:]

Plan to adopt Windows 11

  • Microsoft recommends updating provisioning policies to Windows 11 24H2 or newer gallery images.
  • This ensures your users have access to the latest Windows features (including Hotpatch) and the most secure Windows 365 experience.

If you need to continue using Windows 10 after April 14, 2026

  • Create a custom image using the standard Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2 image, available from Azure Marketplace, MSDN, or Volume Licensing downloads until 2028 (end of ESU support).
  • Note: These images do not include Microsoft 365 Apps or customizations. See Windows end of support and Microsoft 365 apps for more details.

If you use Windows 10 22H2 images without customization

  • Be aware these images will become outdated with Windows Updates.
  • We recommend creating a custom image to ensure Windows, other apps, and components remain current.

When This Will Happen

  • Windows 10 end of support: October 14, 2025
