Updated August 6, 2025: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.
We’re introducing a new, simplified experience for campaign creation in Viva Amplify: Group-less campaigns. This update removes the need to provision Microsoft 365 Groups or Teams channels, reducing setup complexity and allowing campaign creators and IT admins to focus on what matters most—driving results.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 481155
[When this will happen:]
Rollout will begin in late June 2025 and is expected to complete by late August 2025 (previously early August).
[How this will affect your organization:]
This update delivers several key benefits:
- Simplified setup and broader access: Campaign creators no longer need M365 group or site creation permissions. IT admins no longer need to grant broad group creation rights, and SharePoint admins can now configure Viva Amplify without requiring the Groups admin role.
- Faster performance: By removing the need to provision M365 Groups and Teams channels, campaign creation is now over 30% faster, enabling a more seamless and efficient experience.
- Reduced management overhead: Campaign managers no longer need to manage associated M365 Groups or Teams channels, allowing them to focus on content creation and campaign success.
This feature will be enabled by default.
[What you can do to prepare:]
No action is required unless you have internal documentation or guidance that references M365 Group requirements for campaign creation. We recommend reviewing and updating any such materials to reflect the new, simplified setup process.
Admins can now configure Viva Amplify using only the SharePoint admin role. The Groups admin role is now optional.
